The daughter of Suzie Long says the lack of a hospice in Kilkenny 10 years after her death is an assault on her mothers memory.
Aine Nic Liam in a statement from the family today says she is deeply disappointed, frustrated and concerned that ten years since my mother died from colon cancer far from home, there is still no progress on the HSE’s promises to deliver a hospice for the people of Carlow and Kilkenny.
The Susie Long Hospice Fund has been campaigning for a hospice on the grounds of the hospital since it was established just weeks after Susie’s death in 2007.
They’ve raised over 700,000 so far and some of this has been spent on improving interim palliative care services at the hospital.
