Kilkenny’s Great War committee has issued a final call for names to be included in their memorial.
As it stands they have the names of 870 locals who died in World War One, and 16 in World War Two which are all going to be engraved on a large memorial that will stand in Kilkenny’s Peace Park.
The committee is hoping to have the list of names finalised before the end of the year.
Donal Croghan of the Great War Memorial says MacDonagh Junction Train Station have also decided to get involved in the commemoration.
Iarnród Eireann have agreed to give them a seated alcove area on Platform 1 where all of the 3,130 names from Kilkenny that served in World War 1 and approximately 100 in World War 2 will be included.
