The main favourite to succeed Enda Kenny as Taoiseach last night rallied Fine Gael members in Carlow-Kilkenny.
Social Protection Minister Leo Varadkar addressed the party’s grassroots at an event held in Langton’s, the first of its kind in some years.
Mr Varadakar talked Brexit, health and his long-running spats with Micheál Martin in the Dáil who he says is “too easy to wind up”.
In response to claims he’s been lovebombing backbenchers around the country, Mr Varadkar says he may yet break bread with Carlow deputy Pat Deering.
Meanwhile, local Fine Gael Deputy John Paul Phelan spoke of his close friendship with Mr Varadkar at last night’s event, and he told KCLR that Mr Varadkar is his firm favourite.
MINISTER VARADKAR’S INTERVIEW WILL BE PLAYED IN FULL ON KCLR LIVE THIS COMING TUESDAY (1st November).
