Liverpool shock Utd at Old trafford as Arsenal edge Spurs

Liverpool and Arsenal kept their Premier League title hopes alive this afternoon, as both earned wins against their fiercest rivals.

Liverpool were in control for the whole game as they beat Manchester United 3-nil at Old Trafford in the opening game of the day.

Steven Gerrard scored twice from the penalty spot and missed a third penalty, before Luis Suarez sealed the win for the visiting side.

United also had Nemanja Vidic sent off to compound their misery.

The result leaves Liverpool four points off leaders Chelsea with a game in hand, while United stay in seventh place, 12 points off the top four.

In the late game, Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur by a goal to nil in the North-London derby at White Hart Lane.

Tomas Rosicky scored the all-important goal for Arsenal after just two minutes of the game.

The win sees Arsenal move up to third in the Premier League table, just four points behind league leaders Chelsea with a game in hand.

Spurs, meanwhile, now sit seven points off the top four places.
