Local authorities do their best to turn-around council homes for new tenants.
So says Kilkenny County Council’s Director of Services for Housing.
Earlier this week Deputy Peadar Toíbín described as “shocking” that there are 3,500 such premises that are vacant across the country, including 78 in Kilkenny and 36 in Carlow, when more than 95,000 people are on waiting lists, more than 3,000 of them in our two counties.
KCLR News’ Edwina Grace has been catching up with Mary Mulholland who says there are many reasons as to why councils might have a number of vacant homes at any given time.
