Local families protest over closure of respite care service

Local families left angry over the closure of an important Respite service in Kilkenny have started a protest in the last hour.

The service at St Patricks closed in November and talks to arrange a suitable alternative have not been successful so far.

Up to 10 families will demonstrate at the HSE offices on the Dublin road and at St Patricks Centre on the Kells road to highlight their plight today.

One local mother Olivia Holohan says its frustrating because they know its not a funding issue.
