Local farmers to protest over beef prices again today

Farmers say they are taking their protest action ‘one day at a time’.
This afternoon will mark the start of another 48 hours of demonstrations by farmers calling for higher beef prices.
The first demonstrations of their kind in 15 years took place last month and pickets will be staged outside meat plants across Carlow Kilkenny and the country again today.
The IFA says its members are being short changed in comparison to their UK counterparts and the price paid for beef here is one euro per kilo lower than the North.
