Local Halloween celebrations and festivals kick off the scary season this bank holiday weekend

From Zombie walks to food and music festivals – Kilkenny and Carlow are offering all sorts of tricks and treats for Halloween lovers this bank holiday weekend.
The savour Kilkenny food festival is under way since Friday and runs until Monday.
There’s food markets, cookery demonstrations, food art and lots of dining events in local eateries to celebrate Savour Kilkenny food festival.
Watch out for Zombies roaming the streets of Carlow and Kilkenny too.
They’re doing a Zombie walk on Sunday from 2 o’clock through the city.
Carlow are also hosting a Zombie Walk which leaves the Dinn Ri car park at 3.30pm on Sunday.
Thrillkenny runs today and Sunday with loads happening including haunted hunts, A Zombie Ball and Zombie movies.
For the little Monsters, there’s a Dream Monster fun walk on Sunday at the Newpark Hotel at 12 noon and you’re invited to dress up and go along.
Meanwhile Kilkenny’s longest running festival started last night.
Rockfall runs through the long weekend in venues throughout the city.
Featured acts include The Midnight Union Band and AROUND TOWNES.
