A local Imam says its regretful what has happened in Paris this week.
Ibrahima Noor told Sue Nunn earlier that it should be recognised that people have sensitivities about their beliefs.
But he said the killings in Paris could not be condoned.
Meanwhile up to 200 members of the the Islamic community in Kilkenny have been meeting for prayers this lunchtime.
Its understood an announcement will be made there about a vigil thats being held in the city this evening.
It will take place outside the Town Hall on High Street at 6.30 as a show of solidarity and support for the Charlie Hebdo publication and the 12 people who died there.
