Carlow sprinter Marcus Lawlor has secured his place on the Irish team for the upcoming European Indoor Championships in the Netherlands next week.
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from Lawlor himself, who shared his excitement on social media last night. He will be representing Ireland in the 4×400 metres mixed relay team.
This achievement follows an outstanding performance at the National Indoor Championships over the weekend, where Lawlor stormed to victory in the men’s 200 metres with a record-breaking time of 20.74 seconds.
Fellow Carlow athlete Adam Murphy also impressed, finishing just behind Lawlor to claim silver in the same event, further highlighting Carlow’s strong presence in national athletics.
Adding to the region’s success, Adam Nolan put in a superb effort to win the 60 metres hurdles.
Meanwhile, in Kilkenny, Cliodha Manning has also earned a spot in the Irish squad for the European Indoors. The Kilkenny City Harriers runner will compete as part of the 4×400 metres relay team. .
