Ann Phelan says she could challenge Eamon Gilmore for leadership of the Labour party if they perform poorly in the upcoming elections.
But the Carlow Kilkenny TD says she’s more likely to support the current deputy leader Joan Burton who’s expected to be the main challenger.
Tanaiste Gilmore position is expected to comes under threat if recent poll result are bourne out in the local and European election at the end of the month – Ballyragget-born MEP Phil Prenderghast recently called for him to be replaced.
