Local Tidy Towns groups were honoured at an awards ceremony last night.
The winners of this year’s SuperValu Tidy Towns Awards – which were announced in September – were officially presented with their silverware by Environment Minister Alan Kelly yesterday.
This year saw Clonegal in Carlow claim the top spot in the South East Region as well as ‘Tidiest Village’ – missing out on the overall award by just one point for the second year in a row.
Other local gold-medal recipients included Kilkenny, Leighlinbridge, Inistioge, Carlow and Tullahought.
The ceremony took place in Ben Mulhall Park in Clonegal.
