Local soldiers that returned home from a challenging overseas mission in Syria recently were honoured at Farmleigh House yesterday.
Defence Minister Simon Coveney celebrated members of the 44th infantry group – most of whom were drawn from Stephens Barracks in Kilkenny
They came home last month from tour of duty in the Golan Heights having featured regularly in the headlines as some of Irish soldiers came under fire during the mission.
