Lucky escape for Kilkenny family after lightning hits their home

A young family had a lucky escape earlier after their home in Mullinavat was struck by lightning this morning.

A couple and their baby escaped serious injury when the chimney of the dormer bungalow at Farnogue was knocked down by the impact of the strike.

Emergency services were called and Gardai say there is significant structural damage to the house both inside and out.
