Macra na Feirme 'neighbours – near and far' initiative gets underway across Carlow and Kilkenny

A Macra na Feirme initiative gets underway across Carlow and Kilkenny and across the country today encouraging young people to get in touch with neighbours or friends living abroad.

The focus of this year’s know your neighbour weekend is on those who have emigrated, the theme being ‘neighbours – near and far’.

Kieran O’Dowd, National President of Macra na Feirme, says many of their members have left the country for education or work.

And he adds that social media is a great way to keep in touch with those who have left.
