You’re urged to take extra care on the roads this evening.
Heavy showers overnight and through the day have resulted in a lot of surface water on most local routes.
Main Street in Graiguenamanagh is flooded and currently closed.
Kilkenny County Council have sent emergency crews to the village, in a statement to KCLR News they said:
“We are aware of rising water levels in the rivers Duiske and Barrow in Graiguenamanagh, crews are on site and emergency services have been deployed to assist with water pumping.”
“Main Street Graiguenamanagh is currently closed to traffic.”
“Worsening weather conditions are forecast over the next 24 to 48 hours, with significant rainfall amounts and high winds approaching.”
“Our local area staff will be on site as needed and sandbags are available at the following locations across the Callan-Thomastown Municipal District.”
Graigenamanagh (At corner of Quay and Bridge)
Thomastown (At Fire Station)
Callan (Outside Council Depot at Goatsbridge)
Inistioge (At corner beside the River Green)
