Over €7.1 million will be invested in North Kilkenny’s roads by Kilkenny County Council between now and the end of the year.
Castlecomer Municipal District Councillors approved the budget at their March meeting, with almost €4 million of that sum devoted to road restoration improvements.
Municipal District Chairperson, Cllr. Michael McCarthy told KCLR News that the investment was urgently needed. “I’m delighted because with the inclement weather that we’ve experienced, a lot more roads need attention.”
“There is additional works to be carried out. We are currently waiting news if additional funding is going to be made available because of the inclement weather that we had and we would be hopeful to get an additional lump sum of money as well.”
