A major re-building project at Kilkenny city’s biggest primary school has been given the green light.
Planning permission’s been granted to completely demolish the existing building at St Canice’s national school on the Granges Road, but on a phased basis.
The new school will be a two-storey building with 24 classrooms.
It’ll include a general purpose hall, a single storey special needs unit, library, and staff rooms.
There will also be new senior and junior ball courts, play areas, a sensory play shed and garden.
They’re also planning new entrances and internal drop-off and pick-up areas for cars and buses.
Temporary classroom will also be built to hold classes while the project is underway.
