Major upgrade of Bagenalstown Fire Station could begin in coming months

It’s hoped a grant of around half a million euro will be secured for Bagenalstown Fire Station in the coming weeks.

The local Fire Service have been in talks with the Department of the Environment in respect of funding to carry out a major refurbishment and upgrade of the local station.

They received the backing of Carlow County Council last week to look for €450,000 to 500,000 from the Department.

There had been hopes from many locals that a completely new station would be built but Fire Chief Alan O’Neill says that’s not on the cards at the moment.
