A man is due before Carlow district court shortly (10.30am) charged in relation to an armed robbery in the High Street Post Office on High Street in Kilkenny on Tuesday.
The man aged in his thirties entered the building at about 3.30 pm with a hammer and demanded money before fleeing with a sum of cash.
He was arrested shortly after the incident and the money was recovered.
Speaking to KCLR yesterday Sergent Conor Egan said fortunately nobody sustained a serious injury.
