Man posing as plain clothed Garda attempts to scam elderly woman in Carlow

Gardaí are investigating after a man posing as a plain clothed Garda, called to the house of an elderly lady in Bagenalstown.

It happened on Thursday morning when the man came to her door claiming to have found a sum of money outside her house.

He asked if she would go and check if any money was missing and when she refused to go, the man left.

Nothing was taken in the incident but Gardaí are reminding you never to let someone you don’t know into your house without seeing proof of identification first.
