A Waterford based rescue group are encouraging people who are feeling down to talk to someone.
It comes after they rescued a person from the River Suir on the border with South Kilkenny in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A post by Waterford Marine Search and Rescue says that while they were conducting their usual suicide prevention patrols along the quays, a man went into the water at about 2 am.
The team sent throwbags to him and their rescue boat was on the scene within seconds and saved him from the river.
The Irish Coast Guard was alerted along with gardaí and the ambulance service.
Search and Rescue are urging anybody who feels they don’t have anyone to talk to to contact either the Samaritans on 116 123 or Pieta House on 051 858510.
