A man has been rushed to hospital after a narrow escape in a work-place incident in Kilkenny.
The man in his forties was trapped when a trench he was working on collapsed in the Purcellsinch Industrial Estate on the Dublin Road on the outskirts of Kilkenny city this afternoon.
It is understood he was working for a County Waterford-based contractor.
The Fire services, ambulance service, and Gardai all attended the scene which has been preserved pending a full examination by the Health and Safety Authority.
The man has being taken to St Lukes Hospital for treatment but is understood to be conscious and in a stable condition.
