Man with a knife threatens staff in armed robbery in Carlow Town

Carlow Gardai are on the hunt for a man behind an armed robbery last night.

He threatened staff in a service station with a knife before fleeing with a sum of cash.

At around 8.45pm last night a man went into Applegreen on the Tullow Road in Carlow with a knife and demanded that the cashier take money from the till and place it in a bag he had with him.

He then left the shop  with the cash and crossed the forecourt on foot to Friars Green.

The man’s been described as in his mid 20’s, around 6’2 in height and spoke with a local accent.

He wore a navy hoody, navy tracksuit bottoms and black runners and was carrying a large kitchen knife with a black handle.
