Many artists earning less than €10,000 a year according to Carlow Arts Festival Director

Artists are the last to reap any benefits of economic upturn according to the Director of the Carlow Arts Festival.

Jo Mangan is also Chair of the National Campaign for the Arts says many artists are currently earning less than €10,000 a year.

She says she met with Labour’s Brendan Howlin last week who then raised the issue with Enda Kenny in the Dáil.

Speaking to KCLR Live this morning, Jo says she thinks the Government have been particularly hard on the arts.
