Mayor wants outright ban on sulky racing in Kilkenny city & county

The Mayor of Kilkenny wants the local authority to introduce an outright ban on sulky racing.
Andrew McGuinness says he has sought the advise of the Agriculture Minister who told him that councils have the power to bring in bye-laws to prevent people from having horses in designated areas.
It follows a number of serious incidents locally some of which resulted in the death of horses on busy main roads.
The Mayor says this has gone on long enough.
