Gardaí have more personnel out on roads as part of their latest safety campaign which got underway yesterday (Thursday) morning and runs to 7am on Tuesday.
85,000 vehicles have been checked for speeding across the country so far – the majority were found to be within the designated speed, however, 211 drivers were detected and some have been especially dangerous, including the above on the N81 in Tullow.
Aim of the latest operation is to prevent further fatalities – 113 people have died on Irish roads so far this year, eight of them on routes across Carlow and Kilkenny and two other young men from this area dying elsewhere.
