€38 million has been secured to fund two wind farms in Kilkenny.
Renewable energy company, Gaelectric, has agreed a financing deal with AIB for the construction of the two farms – one in Ballybay near Tullaroan and the other at Foyle.
The Ballybay Wind Farm – which was purchased by the company last year – will feature 6 turbines generating enough energy to meet the demands of about 9,300 homes.
While the Foyle farm will have four Enercon turbines creating power for around 6,500 homes.
Both farms are expected to be up and running by next summer.
