A new 50-thousand euro CCTV system is being turned on in Urlingford this morning.
The project has taken four years to come to fruition.
Once its up and running it will see eleven cameras recording 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to prevent crime and antisocial behaviour.
It’s being launched in Urlingford Library at 11 o’clock this morning.
Chairman of the Kilkenny Joint Policing Committee Pat Fitzpatrick says he hopes this will be a major deterrent to criminal activity in the area.
