The new community centre at Lios na Gráinne in Crokers Hill is being described as the heart of the new development.
The 88-home scheme, Kilkenny City’s largest social housing development, officially opened last Friday.
The centre will give residents a place to meet, socialise and take part in events, with discos and other activities planned.
Teac Tom founder Angela Hayes says it’s all about building a strong community, while also providing a space where people can feel supported when it comes to their mental health.
The Residents Association was set up 13 weeks ago, they have put a plan of events together for young and not so young to encourage people to come together as a community.
Our Martin Quilty was there at the event and he spoke to The KCLR Daily host Brian Redmond about the official opening today.
You can check out some of the photos from today’s event.
