A new security system is on the cards for a local park that’s been the site of anti-social behaviour in recent times.
Carlow Councillor Andy Gladney says the Fairgreen in Bagenalstown has become a spot notorious for late-night drinking by groups of youths.
Just a number of weeks ago council workers were called to clean up an area of the park that was left covered in shards of glass from up to 25 drink bottles that had been deliberately smashed there.
An application for 6,000 euro in funding is now being sought so new security cameras can be put in the Fairgreen.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Gladney says this will hopefully go some way towards deterring these people.
