A new speed ramp, in addition to a new public light, is to be installed on the southerly approach into Newmarket following a funding approval by Kilkenny County Council.
A budget of €17,500 has been set aside for the new traffic calming measure, which will complement what’s already in place at the opposite end of the village.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Joe Sheridan’s told KCLR News these works will make a positive difference, saying; “Having the ramp on the Kilmoganny side is going to slow the traffic down there and a public light there as well, it’ll make it a lot more safer there for the residents that just live in and aroudn that area as well, it’s particularly dangerous spot, traffic travels very, very quick and with the motorway now it’s an extremely busy road now, an extremely busy road”.
