The new emergency department at St Luke’s hospital opens today (Wednesday, 25th May).
The opening of the state-of-the-art facility is part of the final phase of the new development at the hospital after a multi-million euro capital investment.
Last year, the Susie Long Day Services Unit and the Dr Jim Mahon Library and Education Centre were unveiled.
Patients will welcome the new emergency department which includes its own X-ray unit and an ambulance-only entrance port.
It’s situated next to the recently-opened Acute Medical Assessment Unit.
The hospital’s Admissions Desk and Switch Board/Reception have also relocated to the new building.
There’s a new Zen Café and an ATM in the facility as well.
