Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly says that no decision has been made about when the search for the bodies of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob will end.
A dig at a site at Castleruddery Upper on the Wicklow-Kildare border began on Monday following fresh information received by investigators examining the cases of both Jo Jo and Deirdre.
Jo Jo disappeared in November 1995 aged 21 while travelling home to Callan from Dublin, while Deirdre (then aged 18) disappeared outside her home in Newbridge, County Kildare in July 1998.
“We’ve had some searches similar to this,” said Commissioner Kelly. “Some of them have taken days and some of them (have taken) weeks but we certainly won’t rush this. We are doing absolutely everything properly to the best standards.
“They have got everything they need to do the work there. I have a lot of confidence in the team involved there; some of the very best investigators in the country are working on this case.”
