A north Kilkenny hotel’s seeking to expand.
The Avalon in Castlecomer has lodged planning permission with the county council seeking a change of use for two houses to provide guest bedroom, Townhouse accommodation.
The former Nurse’s Cottage and number 18 High Street, The Square are next to the hotel which opened in its current form about six years ago.
All three premises are listed on the Record of Protected Structures and on the NIAH Register with the development site within the area of Archaeological Protection and the Architectural Conservation Area for the town.
Full details here and submissions can be made to the local authority up to the 9th of September with a decision due on the 30th of that month.
