Local nurses who have taken to the picket line again this morning in their ongoing dispute over pay and conditions say they are ‘not going away’.
Pickets have been placed on St Lukes and Kilcreene hospitals again in the second of the INMO’s planned 24 hour strikes which will run until 8am tomorrow morning.

Today sees an escalation of the action with nurses from rehabilitation and convalescent units joining their colleagues on strike. That’s likely to see some of the services at Castlecomer, St Columba’s in Thomastown and the Sacred Heart hospital in Carlow affected.
Meanwhile there’s another strike planned for Thursday which will see the action escalate even further with nurses working with people with intellectual disabilities come on board too which should impact St Patrick’s on the Kells Road in Kilkenny.
Nurses at Kilcreene told KCLR this morning they never envisaged having to go on strike but feel they have no choice for themselves and the graduates coming after them.
