Nurses from the District hospitals around Carlow and Kilkenny have joined their colleagues on the picket lines today.
The INMO has escalated its industrial action for the third day in a series of 24 hour strikes.
Nurses at St Columba’s, Carlow District hospital and others have joined in the action today while members are out again at St Lukes, Kilcreene and James’ Green in Kilkenny.
The Minister for Health says everyone needs to “put their shoulder to the wheel” to resolve the ongoing dispute between the government and nurses.
It’s been 10 days since unions and government officials last met to try and resolve the row.
Health Minister Simon Harris says discussions need to start as soon as possible:
