The suspension has been lifted for 10 nursing staff in St Patrick’s Centre in Kilkenny.
On Wednesday night of last week, parents and staff were informed by St Patrick’s that 10 members of their nursing staff would not be returning to work the next day.
In an email that management sent out, they said concerns surrounding the wellbeing and safety of residents at St Michael’s Unit had been brought to their attention.
It’s understood an inspection team had been working in the service for some days ahead of another visit by health and safety watchdog, HIQA.
Following days of confusion for both relatives and staff, a statement was released last night stating that the 10 nurses are now reinstated.
However, management are still refusing to give the reasons behind the initial safety concerns.
They say appropriate measures are in place and a review of the issues of concern will be undertaken immediately.
The relevant authorities have also been notified.
