One person’s dead and another injured following a four-vehicle crash in County Tipperary.
It happened yesterday evening on the R688 at Cooper’s Lot in Cashel.
A man aged in his sixties who was driving one of the three cars involved was killed, with his body taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford for post mortem examination.
The driver of a van, aged in his forties, was taken to Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel for treatment of injuries described as ‘serious’.
No other injuries were reported.
The route remains closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them – in particular they’re keen to hear from those who were travelling in the area of Cooper’s Lot, Cashel, Co. Tipperary between 5pm and 6pm and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
