Those involved in a huge community effort in delivering over 100 Christmas meals to those in need in Kilkenny over Christmas and St Stephens Day are being thanked for their efforts.
Members of the Defence Forces, the Lions Club and 30 other volunteers including members of James Stephens, Clara and O’Loughlin Gaels GAA clubs teamed up for the annual cause.
Volunteer co-ordinator Joe Malone says its a brilliant thing to do each year.
“We love doing it, everyone of us don’t do it, we didn’t, we wouldn’t be doing it.” he said.
“And it’s good for the younger people as well, and they take it over, eventually, someone will I hope, you know, and the Army lads are very good, they’re very, very good in the preparing effort last year there, and they have other duties to do as well, and they have to throw on troops to feed who are on duty there as well, keep them safe, but, you know, it’s a brilliant thing to do.” he added.
