Over 300 delegates are gathering in Kilkenny today for the Green Party’s annual convention.
They are meeting at the Newpark Hotel for the two-day event, where they will examine how to put climate action back at the top of the political agenda.
The party says the Government has abandoned its climate commitments, accusing it of “choosing political scoring over people and the planet at every turn”.
Green Party leader Roderic O’Gorman says the coalition has failed to deliver on its transport promises.
“It’s delaying some of those really big public transport projects, like the Luas to Fingles or the Dart Southwest, It’s about excluding some very big projects from the Climate Act, like they’re trying to do at the moment.” he said.
“It’s about raiding the climate and nature funds, that 3 billion euro that had been put aside to help us deal with some of the big upcoming climate challenges.” he added.
