Pedestrian killed in Crash just outside Carlow Town

A male pedestrian has been killed in a crash in County Carlow.

It happened last night at Gorteengrone outside Carlow town at around twenty past seven.

The 29 year old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem examination is to be arranged.

The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was uninjured.

Gardai have closed off the N78 Castledermot to Carlow road to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out an examination of the scene. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who may have travelled the R448 Castledermot -Carlow Road, to contact Carlow Garda Station on 059-9136620.
