Commissioner Phil Hogan has come out in support for Brussels in the €13 billion tax ruling against Apple.
According to the Irish Indepenedent, the former Kilkenny TD has said that Ireland did grant Apple illegal state aid and the company has to repay the money to the Exchequer.
It comes as the cabinet is set to meet again this morning to consider its response to the ruling.
Hogan’s own party, Fine Gael, are at odds with the Independent Alliance over whether to appeal the decision, with the Independents demanding that the Dail be recalled before agreeing to a deal.
