Parliament St in Kilkenny is set to be closed down on Thursday.
Business owners have been told that ESB Networks will be cutting off the power for the entire working day for maintenance.
An ESB spokeperson has told KCLR News that all planned outages are carried out during the day.
But local councillor Patrick McKee says the electricity company should accomodate business by doing their work outside business hours.
