Carlow is to become the centre of the insurance sector in the South East – creating hundreds of new jobs.
IT Carlow has announced the establishment of the new Insurtech Networking Centre, or INC, which will develop the insurance sector in this region.
They hope to have 50 new businesses set up by 2022, offering 300 new jobs.
Speaking to KCLR News, Darren Smith of the INC says they have a number of objectives including to deliver education and training for insurances professionals in the South East.
They also hope to open the research and innovation capabilities in IT Carlow.
The third element is an Insurtech accelerator programme to get existing companies in the South East like VHI in Kilkenny, Unum in Carlow and Zurich in Wexford to work with start-ups.
