Proposed future for key Kilkenny city site declared a ‘gamechanger’

The proposed masterplan for the 60-acre St Canice’s/HSE site on the Dublin Road is expected to go on public display in January.

Kilkenny City councillors were told at their monthly meeting that there are two options for housing – one permitting the building of 190 homes, the other coming to 345 should the existing structure be completely removed while the HSE’s future needs on the site would also need to be accommodated.

Two thirds of the grounds will remain as passive or natural space.
