Demonstrators at the site of the new Central Access scheme bridge in Kilkenny have anchored a raft in the River Nore in a bid to stop works from continuing.
A review of the scheme wont be happening until September and members of the county council were told at a special meeting on Saturday that it might not have any legal standing anyway.
Despite their disappointment protesters remain at the site and are adament they will put a halt to any work proceeding there.
They have pitched a tent on a raft in the river and plan to man it 24-7.
Meanwhile a number of protestors have been in touch with KCLR this morning to apologise for how heated the demonstration got on Saturday outside county hall.
Some of the council members said they were fearful leaving the building afterwards.
Monica Duggan told Sue Nunn earlier emotions were very high.
