Psychiatric nurses in Kilkenny and Carlow to be balloted

Psychiatric Nurses in Kilkenny and Carlow are to be balloted today on industrial action.

The Psychiatric Nurses Association have announced the move in response to staffing shortages.

The union says there are over 600 vacancies nationwide, with 400 more to be created by forecasted retirements.

The PNA also says they have no faith in the HSE’s ability to put a proper nursing workforce in place.

Local members will be balloted today to take action up to and including strike.
