Senator Malcolm Noonan believes public consultation should have taken place on the Abbey Quarter Masterplan before Kilkenny County Council decided to take out a €24million loan to buy a section of the city site.
Details emerged at a recent meeting of the local authority (see here) of the plan to acquire Block Seven which will see council staff take up office as well as third-party tenants.
Senator Noonan on The KCLR Daily this morning said “It’s a big sum of money to borrow, a huge risk to the local authority and I respect the decision that the elected members have made but for me it’s a very far cry from what is proposed and it’s a really far cry from what people wanted”.
