Public meeting on future of Muine Bheag Vocational School takes place tonight

A public meeting is being held in Bagenalstown tonight about the proposed closure of Muine Bheag Vocational School.
KCLR news revealed earlier this month that the local school was to close due to small numbers enrolling there in the past few years.
Students, staff and parents are all expected to attend tonight’s meeting in the McGrath Hall in Bagenalstown.
KCLR news understands that our five local TDs have been invited to the gathering, along with Cynthia Deane chairperson of the Carlow Kilkenny Education and Training Board, the ETB.
The organising committee are urging locals to attend the meeting and show their support for the school.
There have already been two meetings with Eileen Curtis from the ETB, but they were for parents only.
Anyone who wants to attend this evening’s meeting is asked to be in the McGrath Hall at 7:30pm.
